Eat My Lunch

It’s crazy to think that in New Zealand 1 in 4 kiwi kids live in poverty and go without lunch everyday. Former FMCG Brand Manager Lisa King and award-winning chef Michael Meredith decided it was time that something needed to change...

The Eat My Lunch idea was born. For every lunch that was bought, Eat My Lunch would provide a wholesome, home-made style lunch for a Kiwi kid in need.

We’ve had the privilege to support this initiative from the beginning. From the development of the logo mark, to the newly designed website, we provide ongoing media for Facebook posts and designed material for the very successful NZ First PledgeMe Crowd Funding campaign.

Eat My Lunch in just over 12 months has now supplied over 250,000 lunches to Kiwi kids attending 33 low decile schools across Auckland and Hamilton, picked up numerous awards for innovation and marketing.

Periscope is proud to be a part of something that really makes a difference in our community.

Copper Kettle

Copper Kettle has prided itself on crafting the finest potato chips. It's simple. The finest New Zealand potatoes, cooked in small batches and seasoned with natural flavours. It's this simple commitment to quality that continues to drive them as the no.1 premium brand in potato chips.

They’ve taken this one step further by developing a new range of sophisticated flavours for the foodies, the result: the Copper Kettle Special Reserve range. We’ve paired gourmet food photography and metallic foiling effects to provide an ultra premium look to reflect the quality and decadence of this product.

Copper Kettle have also extended their craft to providing a Kumara Crisps option in the segment that has shown very strong growth in the last few years. The CK Kumara Crisps were to clearly be visually differentiated from their potato chips range but still carry the cues of being lovingly crafted the Copper Kettle way.

Bluebird

Kiwi’s love their potato chips, and more often than not they reach for a bag of their favourite Bluebird potato chips.

Over the last decade we’ve worked with Bluebird to produce packaging and support media across their portfolio, from Delisio Deli-Inspired Chips, to limited edition summer ranges “Kiwi As” and “Summer Flavours”. We designed the All Blacks supporters packs and more recently resurrected the nostalgic 1985 flavours and artwork.

Every time we’ve tackled these briefs we’ve tried to encapsulate Kiwi’s passion for potato chips and provide Bluebird with aisle stopper packs.

We’re proud to have been awarded Bluebird's NZ Agency of the Year for the last 4 years.

ParrotDog

ParrotDog is a Wellington Craft Beer Brewery that came to us with a brief to rebrand and realign their Limited Release beers.

We developed something unique that would sit alongside their core range as a premium offering.

New Zealand native flora was a nice fit. Plants create the perfect link to a beer style that already works to celebrate a plant species. The series would be a celebration of the wondrous diversity of plant life in Aotearoa by way of one incredibly versatile imported crop — humulus lupulus — and the many varieties of Indian Pale Ale it has inspired.

We commissioned artist Nick Blazey to paint classical botanical style 'specimen' illustrations that would focus on an identifying feature of the plant. The range although a 'series' would be marketed and sold individually so each needed to have a strong identity and personality in itself as well as belonging to the family of IPAs.

We also produced a 'guidebook' prospectus and social media elements for their equity funding campaign. As a result ParrotDog raised 2 Million in just 2 days. Enough said.

Kohu Road

Kohu Road make simply the best ice-cream in NZ. They are dedicated to their passion – real food, made simply.

They needed to reinvigorate their tubs without going too far and losing their loyal customers. The result is a sophisticated premium aesthetic, to reflect the true decadence that's inside.

Kohu Road's Dairy-free ice cream is made with organic coconut cream, it's so smooth and creamy it's hard to believe it's all good (low in calories, naturally sweetened & no nasty stuff).

We went about to give this range an aesthetic that matched her personality. Vibrant and elegant, contemporary but at the same time timeless this ice-cream is the real (coconutty) deal.

The Corner Dairy range is a bit of Kiwi nostalgia in a tub. It is the the more accessible offering from Kohu Rd. We wanted to portray the fun, smiles and delight of a summer cone from the dairy, without  being too gimmicky and detracting from the premium quality of this product. This is a real, honest-to-goodness treat for everyone. Whether it be Hokey Pokey or Flat White, one scoop will never be enough!

Booklets

Here's a sampler of a few booklets we've produced to showcase brands that contribute to better cooks, children's education, and also pet care. We use good ideas and good intentions to get that communication just right.

OnePure

One truly premium water, from one pure source.

Our client saw an opportunity in the growing Chinese market for a strong New Zealand mineral water brand that would appeal for its obvious link to our pure land. We designed this brand to resonate worldwide with our naturally clean green and healthy environmental image. Our deep mineral aquifers are still very pure here.

OnePure needed to look special, yet simple. The hero bottle is distinctive for being elongated and feeling like a fine wine. This means it becomes unobtrusive, even fashionable, on a dining table. The iconic bubble like identity we created is tactile yet subtle and has the added practical bonus of making the bottle easy to grip.

The overall result? A fresh approach to a water brand of high quality.

Kalex Wines

Alex Kaufman first visited Central Otago in 1998. He was captivated by the natural beauty of the landscape, the hospitality that he received, and the high quality of wines that were being made. This inspired him to begin a bold venture by buying land in the Gibbston Valley for vineyards. He had a clear goal in mind - to produce wines that matched the world’s best. Today his efforts have resulted in one of Otago’s most respected boutique wine labels.

Ultimately packaging should mirror the brand's essence. Kalex Wines is an award winning brand from a passionate winemaker. A wine with integrity for serious lovers of superior wine - it deserved an exclusive packaging design that expresses that in an instant.

Puhoi Valley

Puhoi Valley's indulgent food reflects their belief that food made with care, to taste good, feeds the body and lifts our spirits. Our food makes us who we are.

A proud New Zealand brand, the Puhoi Valley story started when the area was settled in 1863 by Bohemians enticed by the offer of free land. After clearing the land they established themselves as farmers and still continue to do so today.

The Factory and Cheese Store & Café is nestled in the picturesque Puhoi Valley and is where the people at Puhoi can connect with their customers personally.

We had the opportunity to refresh the Café space and bring a more tangible presence to their brand. We wanted the space to be warm and inviting and show the rich history and passion for what they do.

Treasures

Treasures has been caring for little Kiwi bottoms for over 40 years and we've been right there beside them. From packaging to advertisements and point of sale to expo stands, we ensure that Treasures remains a favourite Kiwi brand.

Nestlé

We've worked with Nestlé for over 23 years, producing everything from POS, packaging, communications to booklets and signage.

The complete Nestlé portfolio includes some of New Zealand's best loved brands. These include Maggi, Highlander, Allen's, Nescafé, Milo, Carnation, Uncle Tobys, Kit Kat and Purina. We are also heavily involved in producing work for both Nestlé Professional and Nestlé Corporate.

Here's just a few examples of some tasty work we've done in recent years.

Snack Bars

Flemings and Le Snak have been lunchbox favourites even back when most of us would look forward to the lunch time bell. So when we were tasked with creating a look for Flemings new Kiwi flavours and nut bar ranges, and giving Le Snak and Bluebird Real Fruit Bars a modern make over, we jumped at the opportunity to be able to add to the legacy of these iconic Kiwi snacks.

Flemings has always had a history steeped with the goodness of oats, so with the Deliciously ranges our scope was to really drive home the taste factor through delicious food photography but grounded with a real honest look and feel.

The Le Snak approach was simpler, retain the elements that Kiwi’s would recognise but promote the real cheese attributes of the product to make it a more permissible snacking option for mum’s shopping trolley.

Identity

We pride ourselves on producing work that genuinely connects organisations with their audience. The results can be seen here as just a few examples of successful brands we have helped to create.

Promotions

It's all about immediately commanding the attention of the shopper through the use of eye catching promotions. We really know how to create a buzz whether it is on an aisle end display or a web banner.

Attention and connection - all the way to the check out.

Pasadena

The new Principal of Pasadena Intermediate School approached us to help give the brand a makeover by refreshing their current coat of arms style logo. Numbers were declining at the school and in an effort to help boost the school's image, we were put to task.

By using a fresh colour scheme and new typography, the result was a fun and contemporary identity and prospectus. For the fundraising T-shirts and Tea Towels we 'commissioned' Luke (the best illustrator in school) to depict some local landmarks and community icons.

Overall, the schools new branding encompasses the inviting and great learning environment Pasadena is all about.
